Why?
Dear friend,
How was your week?
Mine has been spent studying WHY?
I was looking at the women I am in conversations with every week and was finding the common thread as to WHY they are in conversation with me. There are thousands of mentors for photography, creativity, business.
So WHY me?
The common thread is we have built relationships via DM, through this email, by being in the same courses/ workshops, we have things in common like; we are mums, we are photographers, we are women in business, we have similar values, we know some of the same people.
So WHY me?
(These words are from the questionnaire I ask my clients to fill in)
I went with my gut,
I know I will be able to talk to you,
I am drawn to your honesty,
Gut feeling,
I have read your newsletter for a long time and followed you on social media I feel like you will push me in a way that is helpful to me and my business.
I want to chat to you every week.
So WHY me?
I have from day one of offering clarity mentoring been very open and vocal about how important women’s conversations are. I have gone first in sharing some of my story through my newsletter and blog posts. I share with an open heart and mind the things I am curious about and trying in my business and not afraid for experiments to fail. I KNOW my why and this gives me the freedom, creativity, and curiosity to try things in my business and to continually refer to my WHY and build confidence and trust in myself and my gut.
YOU SEE: knowing your why and having clarity in why you are creating; is about being self-aware, having belief in the intangible and trusting your gut. It is having a north star, a place to return to.
See if I don’t believe in my business, my words, how I show up in my business, then how can anyone else?
Have a think about why you make a decision to buy. Is it every really about the product? People buy from people they like, we buy the vibe, the mood, the story, we buy to be near or learn from the teacher, mentor, coach, photographer.
Have a think about when you are selling. I know for me I want my clients to feel excited to be in conversation with me to feel connected to the service they are buying. Curious about the experience and what can happen when we both show up.
Working from WHY builds emotional connection with the perfect audience, because they understand and connect with the beliefs and values of the business and feel inspired to buy.
What’s my WHY.
Women and mothers connected in sharing wisdom, knowledge, skills, and stories.
WHY? Because women connected in community, friendships, collaboration are a powerful source of change. Change for themselves, their family, future generations, community.
WHY? When women know the purpose and why of what they want to achieve they know how to do it. When women have a defined purpose, they are creative in being resourceful, pulling together community and focussing on what needs to be done – think of history or disasters where women have saved the day with single minded focus.
WHY? When women feel seen, heard, and acknowledged in sharing their story, fears, dreams, anger, frustration, celebrations she will remember deeper layers of herself from the reflection of those who hold space for her.
WHY? I want to walk along side the women who also want to be at my side and ask them as many questions as needed for them to remember the why of what they are creating.
WHY? Because everything a woman creates is important, to know WHY means she can shape what she is creating into something sustainable for her and reflecting her heart, she is able to build and collaborate with community instead of competition because she has confidence and trust in herself.
WHY? Because I am curious and find joy in knowing WHY people do things, they way they do things. I love to know the process of how and why they are creating what they are creating. I want to know the experiences of other women and by me asking so many questions to someone to verbally process – this can be transformational and contribute to ah ha moments for the us both.
Knowing my why gives me freedom and options in how I create and work within my business. I am not locked into one facet. Mentoring, photography, and writing give me avenues, new and different levels of connecting with women in conversations and creating together.
I am not in the top 1% in photography, writing or business. I am a woman with many facets, and I am curious. When in conversation either in a 1:1 mentoring, a photo session or replying to emails from my newsletter. The depth and breadth of a connected conversation, genuine interest, laughter, tears, understanding, recognition in each other is one my hearts requirements in the life. Energy expands in relationships with the pushing of boundaries with questions on the razors edge of loving and uncomfortable creating mindset shifts that cause a ripple effect creating change. It is perhaps my deep wonder, ability to seeing things a little differently and my love for a good story that is another one of my whys.
What is your WHY?
What is one single value, standard, reason that is a constant in your business?
What is your belief about your business? (or whatever you are creating)
What is something you will preach about to anyone that will listen about your business?
What do you want clients/ customers to FEEL when they buy from you?
What do you want to FEEL when you sell to a client/ customer?
I am so interested to know- Leave a comment or reply to this email.
Have a beautiful day
Melinda
