what do I have to share this week?
Dearest Wednesday reader,
How are you this week?
I am in my office writing to you and while I am typing away, I am looking out the window to the trees that are almost sideways in the winter westerly winds. Where we live, those winds mean IT IS FREEZING. The metal roof on our one-hundred-year-old Queenslander home has been groaning all day – I keep chanting please stay on, please stay on.
I had such personal responses to my email last week – thank you for sharing.
After reading the replies during the week I have been thinking about what we put ourselves through with the labels and limitations we put on ourselves as women.
There was one response that made me want to reach through the computer screen and give this lady a hug. (We have been emailing back and forth this week, she gave consent to be part of todays email)
In her email she was explaining that; she knows deeply she has decisions to make but is resisting for various reasons – too much will change, what will others think, if she makes certain decisions, she doesn’t feel like she will be taken seriously in her business. She literally has dreams in her sleep of chains falling off her back, she can feel how light she would be if she made certain decisions. But what feels safe, even though not healthy for her mind or heart, is where she will stay – at the moment.
This is why I am happy to share my story, to share what I am up to, our stories are important, even if we do not realize who is taking notice. Sharing our stories as women creates conversations, it allows us to understand ourselves better or ask ourselves questions or open up new thoughts, ideas, feelings and emotions when listening to another woman share.
This really is the superpower of women – our stories.
So, what do I have to share this week?
Well, I started my new job and what a humbling experience, going from a place where I have worked for 23 years to being “trained” in a similar role, where no one knows me or my history, everyone is judging the new girl.
To support myself in this new phase I have been doing Yoga morning and night. I can feel the difference in my mind, body and energy by doubling down on moving and hydrating – water, water, water- we have a Kangen water machine, so it is quality water.
I still haven’t installed the Instagram app on my phone. I have been off it for nearly 2 months. My Pinterest and traffic to my website grows each week and I am enjoying creating and repurposing content for Pinterest. It feels so open and with no restrictions or rules.
I sent away five medium format films last week and received the scans back on Monday. Film is a discipline that I have decided to explore on a deeper level. Purely medium format though. That means $$$$$$. I love the detail, the texture, and the movement in the images. These photos are snapshots they are not composed well; they are experiments on a new “toy”. I know if I am more thoughtful about the images, I create on the Mamiya flex- automatic – B the camera will create images that will tell interesting stories with texture and light.
I love this time spent writing this email each week. I am off to put more wood in the fire before Scott and the boys get home, I will chat again next week.
Have a beautiful day
Melinda.
PS EMAIL ME, I love writing back and forth like pen pals.
Remote photo session
If you would like to experience a remote photo session with me via the Shutter app
I have sessions available for:
Mothers of all ages from new born to great grandmas. Motherhood sessions are an experience in seeing the intertwining of relationships, they are a time of connection, and seeing the motherhood facet.
Portrait sessions if you would prefer a personal experience of being seen and heard as the work of art you are.
This is the water we drink now, we bought a Kangen water machine in April, and we can see the benefits of drinking ionized alkaline water.
Mentoring.
I am still offering mentoring conversations, with my time off social media, and changes I have been making in my own life I am feeling more passionate about these conversations than ever. If you would like to be in conversation with me reply to this email and I will send you my calendar.
