Good morning, Friday reader,
How was your week?
R U Ok? It was R U OK day in Australia yesterday and being asked the question and asking the question a few times yesterday touched my heart.
Scott, Jack and I were sitting at the dinner table last night (Tom is working away) and there was a heated discussion around choices that Jack is making lately (he is 22). The heat was from me, I have been frustrated and annoyed with him the last few days and he was making that worse with our discussion.
You know the saying “if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all?” that was me, I was choosing every single word that came out of my mouth very carefully. I kept repeating, “make choices that make yourself proud, make sure you are learning and for God sake follow your own values”.
I cleaned the kitchen, read the same page in my book about 5 times and was in bed looking at the ceiling by 7.30pm.
I did not feel ok.
The last few months when I have been feeling like that, I have been mindful of my breath, putting my right hand on my heart and my left hand on my belly and breathing. Returning to my center, being in the present moment, feeling the rise and fall of my chest, the beat of my heart.
It is so easy to take our breath for granted, it is mostly an unconscious process; but a powerful one to come back to. While we have breath in our lungs we have opportunity.
So my questions to you today.
R U OK?
Have you taken a conscious breath today?
Have you felt your heart beating in your chest today?
Have you put your hand on your belly - (it is the most powerful place of wisdom for a woman).
Always on the end of this email for a chat.
Have a beautiful day
Melinda
I read the stats on each email I send out. I can see how many times a link is clicked. On average there are about 6 clicks for the below link. 6 women are not booking the mentoring conversations. I welcome any feedback on that - are they felt as too expensive (90 minutes $360)? are Fridays not suitable (Australian Friday)? Are you looking for more information on the mentoring conversations?
I am very interested. Let me know. The conversations that I have / do have are powerful.
For a bit over three years I held mentoring conversations with women creatives, women in their own business, or creating projects. These sessions were to verbally process, to gain clarity, to have another woman to talk to. I will NEVER underestimate the power of one focused and deeply connected conversation. I love these women’s spaces and the impact they create. The last 9 months has taught me a lot and I know will intensify these mentoring conversations. I hold these on a Friday(Australia time), book below if you would like to chat.
I am not ok, but I know I will be ok 🫶
