No thank you
Dearest
How was your week?
I have goosebumps as I write this email in my office, overnight cooler weather has come to us.
I love, summer, I love summer, I love summer.
I love being home and being the wife, mum, “homemaker”.
I love creating and experimenting with my business.
I love writing this email,
I love laying on our grass with the sun burning my skin.
Why am I telling you things that I love.
Well, because last Wednesday at 735am I had a phone call and it was one of those phone calls where I looked at the phone when it was ringing and thought “Something is wrong, it is too early for you to be calling”.
And I answered with are you ok?
Of course I was reminded again to LOVE, to be kind, thoughtful, to do the things that I want to do, to enjoy life, to tell my family and friends that I love them, start again, if I want to create a business to create it how I want, if I want to do a project, write a book, sit and have 5 hour lunches with my friends, swim in the ocean, go to bed early, stay up late reading, drink champagne, then do it. Do it.
Like Julia Roberts says in Eat Pray Love when she is in Naples about to eat a whole pizza.
I am going for it.
I am letting things go that I feel like I “should” be doing.
I was reminded yesterday that to effectively market my business I need to start pressing more on pain points.
NO THANK YOU. I have worked in hospitals for 27 years. I have seen the reactions of people when they have pain points pressed on, I have seen hundreds of CPR in progress – literally pressing on heart pain, I have seen abdominal pain where the patient is screaming when the Doctor press on the area and asks if that is painful, same with broken bones, broken minds, and broken emotions.
I will not press on pain points. I will offer what I offer with love and trust that the women that want to connect with me in my business will find me.
I will not use scarcity to sell more of what I offer, no thank you. I was raised by a single mother who worked so hard for us to never feel or live in scarcity. Scott and I have worked ridiculous hours and shifts to never feel in scarcity and for my children to never live in scarcity. I have so much to offer, why would I want my clients who mean so much to me and my business and who ultimately pay my bills with the exchange of their money for my photos, writing or conversations, to feel a sense of scarcity around me.
The smoke and mirrors of marketing, selling. No thank you. I will be honest, I will tell the story always of how I am creating, the process of how I wrote Remember, my photography process, or why I am passionate about being in conversation with women around clarity and knowing their why.
I have told you before about the post it note on the bottom of my computer screen.
“Keep searching for things I love”.
That is what I am doing, one step at a time in claiming MY own love, joy and tapping into my wisdom.
I am 100% responsibly for my reality.
My life, art and business is how I create it.
So when my heart tells me something doesn’t feel right for me (as above pain points, scarcity etc.), instead of looking outside for the answers or ignoring my own knowledge it is up to me to trust myself, and to take responsibility for my choice. To rewild my intuition, to be led by my own inner wisdom and knowledge. As women we have forgotten how amazing, powerful, and strong we are, it is time to remember.
I wish you lots of love.
Have a beautiful day.
Melinda.
